Engines add an excitement to any ride and Pedal-Paddle is no exception. With any of our engine/transmission options you can head down the road or across the water with the push of a button! On water you can send a spray out behind you 30 feet or more as you cruise along. On land you'll be able to climb hills and boat ramps without breaking a sweat or achieve speeds of up to 30 mph, if you think you can hold on at that speed! It's all in the many options and gearing possibilities...so let’s get to it!
The 1.6 HP engine with single speed transmission can be changed from a top speed of 15 mph and plenty of hill climbing power to a top speed of 20 mph, but with less hill climbing power... or anything in between, just by changing out sprockets.
The 1.6 HP engine with the CVT transmission can do all of the above with infinite hill climbing power just by turning the transmission dial on the handle bar!
The 2.5 HP engine gives you more power than the 1.6 for everything you need power for. Now this is a little tricky but bears saying...the 1.6 with the CVT will be able to pull hills better than the 2.5 with a single speed transmission AT LOW SPEEDS unless you really gear the 2.5 down. But, at speeds over 15 mph there's no match for the raw power of the 2.5!
The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) adds another whole dimension to a Pedal-Paddle. For one, durability, dependability, and 'user friendly' gear operation. In short, we would never knowingly sell a standard Pedal-Paddle to someone wanting to put it into rental operation. Bicycle gears are awesome, but if you don't know how to use them you can tear them up in 15.4 seconds!
The CVT 'gears' are internal and can be changed up or down while you're sitting still or moving! The CVT is not automatic but you have only one knob to twist up or down for continuously variable ratios to the rear wheel. This works for both pedals and for powered models, so rather than being geared for either power or speed, you can have both - and everything in between!
The 2.5 with the CVT is the ultimate! Power, speed - it's got it all! But be careful! Do you really want to go 30 mph on a bicycle with two pontoons sticking out on the side? This much power and speed can get a little crazy!
